About Me

My photo
The day I said "I do" I married the love of my life and the United States Navy. Since then we have been enjoying the life that the Navy has offered us. This is the story of my days as a wife, stay at home mom of 3 , dog wrangler, and coordinator of our crazy lives!

On the Move

It seems almost over night by little one has gone from kicking his legs in excitement to full on moving in leaps and bounds. Literally.

The other night I was changing Preston's diaper and picking out some books for us to read on the patio. I turned around for 2 seconds while he was on the changing table and my son did a back flip onto the floor. Yes, a back flip. Seriously. From what I can gather he dug his heels into his changing pad really well and when he kicked his legs he thrust himself backwards, causing him to flip, bonk his head on the dresser, and land face down on the carpet. Yep, mother of the year right here folks. Thankfully, other than being absolutely terrified, he was fine! He was back to his happy laughing self in no time. I, on the other hand, remain traumatized.

Since his acrobatics on the changing table, he has continued to kick and squirm and move as much as his little muscles will let him. He generally takes his afternoon nap in the living room in his swing seat. This is how nap time went yesterday...

I'm afraid that if this is what I get at 4 months...this momma is gonna have trouble on her hands :-)

Cheers and Jeers

Cheers….to Preston loving eating cereal off a spoon. I can’t shovel it in fast enough for his little bird mouth. Bonus points for the funny faces that accompany new tastes.
Jeers….for the foot (okay, thats a mild exaggeration) of the rain we got last night. Now the fields and parks are too muddy to play. Or, rather, I am not interested in bathing the dogs as a result of the mud.
Cheers and Jeers….for another day on this damn diet. I will lose the rest of this baby weight if it kills me. And oooh thats a definite possibility.
Jeers….for trying to find a foundation and/or tinted moisturizer that I don’t hate. Summer in Memphis is the equivalent to the surface of the sun and I don’t need my makeup melting all over the place. Oddly enough, we also aren’t independently wealthy, so I refuse to pay a fortune for makeup.
Cheers…for finally deciding on a stroller for Preston. Britax b-agile…you shall be mine!
Cheers….for last nights awesome dinner creation. Chicken sausage in creamy sauce with peas and green beans over pasta. Yum.
Cheers…to Hunger Games opening tomorrow. The responsible mother in me has talked herself out of going to a midnight showing tonight. Still contemplating calling the babysitter for tomorrow night :-)
Jeers…to having to wait another week for Charleston. Oh sunshine and sleeping in how I long for you!

Good Intentions

As is obvious from my first post…I was psyched to start my blog and have a new outlet. Clearly, I haven’t been as good at keeping up with posting. How do other women do it? I am constantly amazed at the amount of things some are able to accomplish in a day. I am lucky to get P down for a nap and have a tiny bit of quiet time. I try to remind myself that he is only 4 months old, so I can cut myself some slack given that I’m not an expert yet. I seriously need to work on my time management skills, but how many times can you ignore something on a to-do list before you actually have to do it?
Ed and I are going to Charleston SC next weekend and I cannot wait! It will be the first time I will spend a night away from P, though, so I am a little apprehensive. I know he will be in good hands but I am just use to those hands being mine. It will be nice to get away though. Sleep in, stay out late, and drink too much wine.

Here’s to making more of an effort to post more often!
